Tara closed the trunk and smiled at Lauren. “Next stop, Gucci.”

Lauren linked her arm in Tara’s and they walked down the sidewalk. “This has been so much fun. I’m not sure what else I could possibly shop for. We’ve bought dresses and shoes and lingerie.” She said the last word with a sexy low voice.

“I can’t wait to see you in it either,” Tara answered in her own sexy voice. “We’ve got Justin and Emily something. You found gifts for Krista, Melanie, Julia, and Heidi, but I think I know what you need.”

Lauren chuckled. “You usually do, but what else?”

“I’ll show you,” Tara said, opening the door to the store.

They browsed the store and ended up at the handbags.

“Look at this,” Tara said, holding up a small tote. “You could use this for work. Your laptop would fit perfectly along with everything else.”

Lauren’s eyes lit up. “That is beautiful, but I have a tote.”

Tara dropped her head and stared at Lauren. “Not like this.”

“What color?” Lauren pondered aloud.

“I know what color suits you,” said Tara. “I also know which I would choose.”

“Oh, you think you know me? Which one?”

“Red, of course. It’s a power color. You wouldn’t choose it for yourself, but you’d let me choose it for you, wouldn’t you, babe?”

“You do know me. I’d love the red, but probably wouldn’t choose it.”

“Good then, it’s a gift.” Tara winked. “Was there anything else that caught your eye? Because we’re going to the roof for a late lunch and a cocktail.”

“They have a rooftop restaurant?”

“They do and we have reservations. Have I told you how much fun this is for me?”

“I can see it in your face, honey. You are glowing!”

“That’s because I love you. I always glow now.”

“And you’re not at all smitten. We’ll see when the honeymoon is over, as they say,” Lauren teased.

“I don’t see it changing,” Tara said, shaking her head. “Ever!”

A salesperson walked up. “May I wrap that up for you?”

“Yes,” Lauren said. “But I want this small crossbody bag for you, sweetheart. I know you don’t really like big purses.”

“That’s true, but what color? Let's see how well you know me.”

Lauren walked over to the smaller bags and looked at the colors. “We’ll take this one,” she said, choosing a navy blue one. “It’ll go perfect with your eyes. How did I do?”

“That’s the one I would’ve chosen.” Tara grinned.

Lauren handed the bag to the salesperson and they followed her to the back.

“Shall I put this on your account, Ms. Holloway? I can bring them up to the roof when I have them packaged.”

“Thanks, that would be nice,” Tara said.

She led them to the elevator and on the roof they were taken to a table near the edge with an expansive view of the city.

“Wow! I keep saying wow and incredible over and over,” Lauren said, smiling at Tara.

“I still think it’s incredible and I’ve lived here thirty years,” said Tara.

“I can’t believe it!” someone said behind them.

Lauren turned around to see Renee Oliver walk up.
